Guest blog by Abby about having her dream wedding dress made in ivory silk.
One of my favourite parts about preparing to be married was getting to visit Caroline Arthur in her studio.
She has created such a peaceful and comforting space that was always such a blessing to visit, particularly during such an overwhelming season! Caroline listens so kindly, and took all the bits and pieces of ideas and thoughts I had about the kind of dress I would like to wear, and turned it into this beautiful ivory dream I had always wanted!
It was such a comfort to be in the hands of someone with such creativity and insight. Someone who could give wings to your idea! Something that really meant a lot to me was how Caroline went to great lengths to find me a very specific fabric I had requested, ensuring that the dress was just as I had hoped it would be.
One of my favourite things about having my dress made for me was watching the idea grow and bloom from start to finish. The dress is growing along side you the whole way, preparing just as you are for the big day! It becomes like this very special friend that you’re looking forward to finally getting to see after much excitement!
To me, it felt fabulous, yet familiar. I felt like me on my most beautiful day, rather than spending the day in a dress that could’ve belonged to anyone. Top to toe, this was handmade just for me, just for our day. I was richly blessed by having my wedding dress so lovingly and excellently made by Caroline Arthur. – Abigail Fredrickson

Abby designed her own wedding dress using our Couturekit which we then created in pure silk dupion with a soft polka dot tulle overlayer.
