Bringing your gown to me for wedding dress alterations isn’t just about having the hem taken up, or the sides nipped in. I take a bit more care of you…
My bride Lucy, was getting married to Dom, at West Witterings in West Sussex, and contacted me for wedding dress alterations.
She had bought her Pronovias dress before falling pregnant, and had to postpone her wedding for several months as a result. She then fractured her foot and then caught pneumonia… it is understandable that she had begun to fall out of love with her dress.
This is where I came in…
Lucy’s gorgeous Pronovias gown was too large, and had somewhat lost its shape on her. But because it was so simple, there were virtually no seams to take in! Also, there was an amount of chat needed regarding finding the right underwear… starting with discussions about adjusting a backless body, and invisible straps to sew into the dress…
We also faced the challenge of trying to fix a hem when her fractured foot was still in recovery and reluctant to squeeze itself into her bridal shoe. Lastly the topic of what to do about the weather. This was a winter wedding, so we needed to decide what to do regarding either adding sleeves, or making an additional jacket.
The story ends well – you’ll see from the beautiful images by Duntons Photography, we tailored the dress by adding two diagonal darts below the bust, taking up the hem and adding a bustle. Lucy decided on a separate jacket which worked perfectly on the day, and I was delighted to see not a glimpse of underwear on this stunning bride!
“…Caroline welcomed me and my dress with open arms when the dress shop I bought it at closed down. Her service was exceptional and her endless ideas, can do attitude and attention to detail was exactly what any bride would be reassured by. I recommend without hesitation. Thank you!…”
If you have a dress that needs altering, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Every bride is different, every dress is different, and every situation is unique. So let’s work together to find the perfect solution for your gown.
Look forward to hearing from you!
