Gemma and Steven

Welcome to the joyful, personal and relaxed wedding of our creative real bride, Gemma, who designed her own Couture Kit bridal gown, which we made to measure for her Kent wedding in October.

Thank you to “Today We Rock” for the incredible pictures.

Gemma and Steven were married in St Mary’s in Teynham which was the church that her family grew up in and generations of her family were married in.

Gemma’s gown featured a sweetheart bodice and flowing A line skirt in ivory crepe, with a corded lace overlay at the top with long lace sleeves and a keyhole back. The bride artfully placed the ivory lace appliqués drifting across her gown, which was fastened with crepe covered buttons. The skirt part had a silk chiffon over layer by James Hare Silks, and was complimented by a “Bala” veil by Joyce Jackson.

For the colour scheme, Gemma and Steven chose a beautiful palette of oranges, reds and yellows.

“..We both just love the colours of autumn and the changing leaves so it made deciding the flowers easy, we used Flowers by Beatrice, a florist who is a family friend who created the bouquets and boutonnières for the family whilst my Grandmother created pieces for the church and teepees…”

“..My hair vine came from Amazon after I saw something similar on Pinterest and would compliment my gown and veil. My gorgeous leather ivory ballet shoes were from The White Ribbon shop on Etsy and was made for my feet and were so comfortable all day which meant I was more relaxed than if I were wearing heels…”

“..The girls’ Bridesmaid dresses were an excellent contrast to the vivid colours of the season with their navy blue colour with delicate beading. The dresses were purchased from David’s Bridal store in Stratford and altered locally, the seamstress being incredible in dealing with the many alterations for one of my girls who had significant health issues…”

“..The car we used belongs to my new mother in law who allowed us to use it for the wedding. That was the best part of the day when we drove from the church to the reception as it was just us two in the car and the sun had just come out and the country roads were just awash with colour…”

“…We wanted to break tradition a little and have a first look, not only was it a good way of calming the butterflies but it was a chance to have a private moment before the ceremony without having a crowd stare at our reactions…”

“..We decided we wanted to try something different for our “cake” and went for a savoury cheese tower that was made up of our favourite cheeses. We went to our local Sainsbury’s Deli Counter and ordered the cheese and our caterer artfully arranged the cheese to resemble our cake with fruit to decorate. Our cake topper came from Amazon which suited our theme perfectly…”

“..We had an incredible surprise from Steven’s sister Melissa who had hired a caricature artist who created sketches for our guests, The Artful Doodler certainly captured our guests in the best way and entertained them thoroughly…!

“.. We were very conscious that we didn’t want a stock wedding, we wanted something unique and personal to us so we found Tentario and fell in love with what they offered and seemed perfect for autumn nights. The guys were incredible every step of the way and was definitely a highlight of the day…”

“..For the food we wanted to think cosy autumn nights and automatically thought of a hog roast. We were recommended to find Succulent Pig by our local butcher who uses local produce and we were sold. Anthony and his team were excellent in creating a menu that suited all of our guests and made them feel included. For the bar we used Kent Mobile Bar who kindly stocked locally brewed Shepherd Neame beer Whitstable Bay..”

Clearly the night was danced away…thank you, Gemma, for all your creativity and for sharing your beautiful wedding with us xx
