Glitter wedding shoe WARNING! !

When you go wedding shoe shopping, no-one warns you that the more glittery and sparkly they are, the more likely to snag on your wedding dress fabric.

However, many of my brides-to-be have tried the solution I  demonstrate in this video – it’s easy, you can DIY it and it’s cheap as chips.

Here, you can see how to apply a product over the top of the glitter which won’t reduce the sparkle, won’t change the colour and won’t ruin the shoes. I test two  varnish products – both of which were recommended to me but both of which came with comments online about problems: Angelus and Mod Podge.

I put both products through their paces and while they both do the job, the Mod Podge is definitely the one I’d recommend – easier to use and doesn’t reduce the sparkle.

My top tip? Do several thin layers and allow each layer to dry properly. If you put on a thick layer or don’t let it dry thoroughly, it’ll end up tacky.
